Ashley

Occupational Therapist

Hi, I’m Ashley! I was born and raised in Odessa, TX. I received my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Texas Tech University and then went on to obtain my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. I have experience in outpatient pediatrics, school-based pediatrics, and adult inpatient rehab, specifically on the spinal cord injury team! I am passionate about working with children and developing relationships with them and their families. I love finding fun and creative games/tasks that create the perfect challenge for each kid. My favorite part of being a pediatric OT is seeing a child attempt new things and have success with challenging tasks. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family & friends, playing with my dog, working out, reading, and traveling! I feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful team here at West Texas Speech Therapy!

Kendra

Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

Hi, my name is Kendra! I am a speech-language pathology assistant (SLPA). I was born in San Antonio, TX and moved to Odessa almost two years ago where I began my career here at West Texas Speech. I attended Texas State University to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders. I began high school wanting to become a SPED teacher. However, after working in the special needs classroom as a student teacher in high school and watching a speech therapist come in to help the kids communicate, it sparked my interest and love for supporting communication. It's been a privilege to have the opportunity here at West Texas speech to provide my patients with the tools to increase their communication everywhere they go and to serve their families. My favorite part of being a speech therapist is seeing the kiddos' faces when their mode of communication (AAC device, vocalizations, signs, gestures, gestalts, stimming etc.) are respected and understood. There is no greater feeling than to see my kiddos walk in my door feeling loved and understood. In my spare time, you can find me taking cycling classes, listening to a podcast, hiking, walking my dog, and playing pickleball.

Jocelyne

Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

My name is Jocelyne, and I am bilingual speech-language pathology assistant (SLPA). I was born in Mexico and raised in Odessa, Tx. My nephew was diagnosed with Autism when he was 3 years old and has fueled my passion for the field of speech-pathology ever since! I have experience working with pediatrics and adults in home health, outpatient private clinics, and non-profit organizations. Throughout my career I have been involved in several research studies focusing on stuttering, language brokering in Mexican children, and aphasia. I completed an AAC focused program in Chiang Mai, Thailand and implemented sustainable and culturally relevant AAC interventions for children with autism, down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.
